Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson’s first single from their forthcoming duets album will hit radio “in days, not months,” according to Michigan radio station 97.5 Now FM.
Resident DJ Josh Strickland was given a select listen to the imminent debut song from the two mutually managed artists at Bieber’s record company last week, and in his own words:
“I literally had absolutely no idea that I was listening to Justin Bieber, and when he [A&R] told me, I was shocked.”
Strickland promises, “This is a complete musical and vocal departure from anything we’ve ever heard from the Beebs,” then adds in a piece here at The Inquisitr that the new Bieber + Simpson sound is so different people “won’t believe it’s the Beebs.”
News of the days-away single follows the announcement just over two weeks ago that the 17-year-old, recently re-signed Australian idol and 20-year-old Canadian star are dropping a “smack bang duets [album]“ in November. Back then, the splash that should have made was overshadowed by the Biebs’s ATV trouble in Canada.
Now, after the genuine-sounding shock and excitement of Strickland’s word-of-mouth for the duo’s new music, that buzz can rebuild.
A looming first single from Bieber and Simpson — we’ve been teasing their collaboration for weeks — is something concrete for music critics and two huge fandoms to anticipate.

It also makes sense of Braun’s dramatic, social media post, after he, Bieber and Simpson locked down in a recording studio right after Justin received the “Champ of Charity” award at the Young Hollywood Awards on July 27.
At that event, “Pretty Brown Eyes” singer Cody hinted coyly in an interview about the “real, cool acoustic project” on the way from the partner he has previously referred to as a “big brother.”
More recently, Cody — who has now left Warner/Atlantic Records and is looking to stretch his muso wings and profile with his new record company — told Tribute, that he and Justin started jamming after Bieber checked out some of Simpson’s Instagram music videos.
Cody says their creative process was experimental, and produced more than intended.
“We went in and ended up being in the studio til six in the morning…came out with a song, went in the next night and then ended up writing like 12 songs in seven days, working all night,” the teen recalls.
What is certain is this: Two young artists with more to gain — and perhaps offer — at this stage by joining forces, are preparing to land their title-pending, acoustic, duets album this November. And their all-important first single will impact U.S. radio sooner than previously thought.
“Had a meeting with Justin Bieber’s record label last week. The new Bieber/Simpson is real and it’s going to be here in days, not months,” 97.5 Now FM writes.
